Recently I was diagnosed with disc herniation leading to compressed nerves. The doctor says I'll need to adjust my phiscal activity and will probably need some medication, plus physical therapy and whatnot. I took it upon myself to visit a local chiropractor, when I say local i mean in the building next door, and he said that he can fix my problem. I then went back to my doctor and he said that the chiropractor can make things worse. So now I'm confused and looking for help

It's a tough decision. Your doctor is correct, bad adjustments can really cause problems with nerve compression. For now, it's best to focus on physical therapy and medication. If you really want to try a chiropractor, consider McTimoney since it's a lot gentler. Just check with your doctor first, and maybe get a second opinion from another chiro

Yeah, I'm with you on that, rushing into adjustments can sometimes do more harm than good. McTimoney is a good shout too, way gentler. Have you tried any specific physio routines yet, or still figuring out what works?

It's normal to feel confused, but still its the doctor's call you should take more consideration. Before trying chiropractic treatment, make sure the chiropractor is experienced with your condition and get your doctor's approval to avoid making things worse.

Since you have a herniated disc and compressed nerves, it's safest to follow your medical doctor's advice firststick to physical therapy, medication, and activity changes. Chiropractic treatment, especially spinal manipulation, could make your condition worse if done too soon. Once your doctor says it's safe, you can consider seeing a chiropractor for gentle care. Always check with your doctor before trying anything new.

Absolutely. Let's prioritize physical therapy and medication first. And I really like the idea of trying McTimoney's gentler approach, but definitely make sure your doctor gives it the green light before diving in.
