I could really use some advice. I've just found out that I have a displaced C7 vertebra, and I'm a bit lost on what I should do next. I know this is a delicate area and can be tricky to handle, so I'm wondering if I should see a chiropractor or if I should go straight to a specialist first.

Has anyone here been through something like this? I'd really appreciate any suggestions or personal stories you might have.

If you've got a displaced C7, i sugest you go to a spine or neuro specialist first and hear what they have to say. Review your options from there, don't mess with a chiropractor until you know exactly what's going on. That area's very delicate, and you'll want proper scans and advice before doing anything. I know you posted your concern in a chiropractor forum but I strongly advise skipping the chiropractor for now and heading straight to a specialist like what the others suggested.
We're talking about your neck here, and a displaced vertebra carries risks that are best assessed by someone with a deep medical understanding of complex spinal issues.
I agree with @bx.clyde that a neurosurgeon or an orthopedic spine specialist would be the most appropriate starting point.
They can give you a precise diagnosis and lay out a comprehensive treatment plan, and see from there if they'd recommend you going to a chiropractor.
My uncle had a similar scare a few years back, not his C7 but another displaced vertebra in his lower back after a fall.
He also initially thought about just going to his regular chiropractor, but his doctor insisted he see a spine specialist first.
It turned out to be a good call because the specialist identified some underlying instability that needed more than just adjustments.
He ended up with a carefully managed treatment plan that truly got him back on track safely!
I cannot emphasize more how it was so important to get that initial, expert medical assessment, especially with a displacement!
